The 2008 AGM will take place on
Thursday 24th April, 8.00pm
at Storey Park Community Centre, High Church, Morpeth
Morpeth Amateur Swimming Club (Morpeth ASC) was first established in July 1969, and is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), the ASA North East Region (ASANER) and Northumberland and Durham Counties ASA (NDCASA).
The object of the club is to promote and encourage the art of swimming through the teaching, development and practice of swimming for its members.
The club's philosophy is:

To help swimmers maintain their enjoyment and reach their potential in a safe, structured environment.

To enrich swimmers' lives through the structure, organisation and commitment to the sport, developing them as swimmers but also socially and emotionally.

To develop techniques, strength and speed, reducing the risk of injury while ensuring progression in the sport at a rate according to individual ability.

To help swimmers remain swimmers for life.
The Club shall not refuse an application for membership on discriminatory grounds, whether in relation to ethnic origin, age, sex, religion, disability, political persuasion or sexual orientation.
Morpeth ASC is totally run by volunteers, who organise all of the sessions and galas that our swimmers take part in, including the administrative tasks involved. The club operates on a framework of an ASA recognised constitution, the requirements of which state that an elected committee manages the club's finances and activities. The club has also adopted the ASA code of conduct, and the ASA child protection policy. Copies of these documents can be accessed via the committee link above.
The club's Head Coach is Jenny Glossop.
SWIM 21 is the ASA’s club development model, enabling clubs to help swimmers, coaches and administrators to achieve their full potential. It is centered around the needs of the swimmer, and strives to provide them with the best possible training environment. It is regarded as the backbone of the ASA's development programme.
The Swim 21 scheme also provides a “kite marking” process for swimming clubs. When awarded, it shows that absolute best practice in swimming provision is being used. There are four levels of Swim 21 accreditation:
- Teaching
- Skill Development
- Competitive Development
- Performance
Morpeth ASC has recently gained Teaching accreditation, as reported in the Morpeth Herald of 12th July 2007.
